This is my second handmade amulet case handmade from precious metal clay fine silver.  Charm boxes and amulet cases have been made for who knows how many years around the world.  They come in a fascinating array of shapes and sizes and are usually permanently sealed to hold protective items such as bits of sacred script, holy items or plant, animal or mineral substances.

The lid of this charm box was molded from the bark of a smoke tree, a delightful desert plant that likes to grow in the gravel beds of desert washes.  Smoke trees have beautiful purple blooms which resemble smoke at a distance, hence their name.  I made the bark mold from the trunk of a living tree one sunwashed day in Cottonwood Canyon wash, in Joshua Tree National Park in California.  It is connected to the case by a single tab hinge, while a wire pressure clasp opens and closes the case at the bottom, and small items can be concealed inside.

I've strung this case on a strand of Thai Hill Tribe .999 fine silver beads and tiny iridescent seed pearls, accented with larger pearls which are bracketed by antique Burmese silver beads.  Just above the pendant is another disc of fine silver I made myself, impressed with the spiral of a fossil trilobite, and stacked with more silver and brass.  This is a shorter necklace and I added a powerful little sterling silver magnet closure--no fussy clasps for this one!

Simply elegant, pure desert...

SIZE:  The shell pendant measures 2 7/8" x 1/2" x 3/16", or 74mm x 13mm x 5mm.  The necklace with pendant measures 15 3/4", or 40cm, from the back of your neck to the end of the pendant when worn.

CARE:   Rinse in cool water to clean and gently blot dry with a soft cloth.  The silver case can be polished with a silver polishing cloth for a bright finish, or gently buff it with a dry kitchen scrubbing pad if you prefer a matte surface.

PRESENTATION:  Lady of Cottonwood Canyon will come to you beautifully giftwrapped.  See my shop policies below for details.
