I've set this remarkable high-profile ammonite cabochon in a substantial heat-textured sterling setting.  This is a ring that exudes strength and embodies deep time.

The rustic, matte finish cab comes from the lapidary of Gary Wilson in Tucson.  It's a highly unusual treatment for a fossil ammonite: the outer curve of a section of the fossilized shell, with the outside polished away to reveal the intricate tracery of the interior.  Here the sutures dividing the inner chambers of the shell are outlined in a cream-colored mineral while the body of the stone is a deep translucent caramel.

The silver setting was given the Desert Primitive treatment, emulating the effects of time and weathering in the desert, emphasizing the marks of process.  File marks and solder overruns are deliberately left in place; the shank is heavily heat textured.  It was given a deep patina and a matte finish.  You will continue the ring's evolution as you wear it: the high spots will brighten with wear and the patina will continue to deepen.

SIZE:  Because the band is not perfectly round, it is very hard to gauge the exact size range of this ring.  My best estimate is that it is around a ring size 6-7.  The ammonite in its bezel measures 1 1/4" x 3/4" x 1/2".

CARE: Wash and wear as desired. Do not scrub the ring or you will damage the patina...let it become richer with time and wear.

PRESENTATION:  This ring will come to you beautifully giftwrapped.  See my shop policies below for details.
