:: Moonscape ::

Here's a stone I've been holding onto for a while because I just love to look at it.  From the deserts of Morocco, it is a section of fossil coral which was made into a cabochon by Gary Wilson who has his lapidary in Tucson, Arizona.  The preservation of texture is remarkable, and along with the textured silver the bracelet looks like a moonscape or the surface of a far away world.  With its soft-spoken, neutral buff hue, it will harmonize with anything.

The cuff is substantial solid sterling, heat textured--I am tempted to call this technique "torch-sculpted" at this point--with an additional accent of heat textured sterling next to the stone.  These torch textured pieces are quite rough when they are made, and I carefully refine them by hand, taking down the rough spots with file, sandpaper and sanding sponges, before the patina is applied.  This patina is a golden-earth hue which will grow richer over time.  The surface of the bracelet was given a final satin finish to bring out the high spots.

I never intend my talismans to be static pieces frozen in time, but rather something that continues to evolve with you as you wear it.  Bracelets and rings especially will acquire wear-polish as you wear them, with the patina deepening and the high spots becoming increasingly polished.  Only then do they look like ancient pieces which have been worn and loved for a long time, imbued with your energy and uniquely yours.

This cuff can be adjusted in size slightly.  I would recommend doing it as a one-time thing rather than bending the metal each time you put it on, which causes metal fatigue which leads to eventual breakage.  To do this, support the bracelet well while slowly bending the metal.  You want to bend the entire piece rather than allow a sharp bend to happen in any one area.  There should be enough of a gap between the ends of the cuff to enable you to put it on and take it off without excessively bending the bracelet, which could also loosen the stone in its setting.

SIZE:  The internal dimensions of the cuff are 2 1/2" x 1 1/2".  The opening is 3/4" wide.  This size can be increased or reduced by opening the ends up to 1" in either direction.  The cuff itself is 1" wide.  The stone is 1 3/4" x 1 1/8".

CARE:  You can buff this bracelet with a dry kitchen scrubbing pad to brighten it with a matte surface.  You can also polish it with a silver polishing cloth but that will produce a much shinier finish on the high spots.  Otherwise, wash with soap and water as desired.

PRESENTATION: This bracelet will come to you beautifully giftwrapped.  See the shop policies below for details.
