STORE POLICY
My Desert Talismans website and shop are managed entirely by myself, out of my home studio in Placitas in northern New Mexico. My talismans are all inspired by the sacred landscape of the Desert Southwest, and each one holds my good intentions and blessing. I make all of my pieces carefully by hand, one at a time, and everything is one-of-a-kind.
RESERVATIONS AND COMMISSIONS
Reservations are not accepted.
My creative process is deeply intuitive and as a result, I do not accept commission work.
Also, pieces cannot be altered or sized unless I've stated otherwise in the listing.
PRICING
I try to price my work as fairly as possible, and so the prices listed are final. The majority of that amount usually goes toward components, unless it's a labor-intensive piece like a multi-strand necklace, stone-ground or handwoven item. Generally, I charge $15 an hour for my labor, including the hour or two it takes to photograph, edit the images for, and write the listing for each piece, as well as packaging and shipping.
Items ordered in New Mexico will be subject to a 6% sales tax.
RETURNS
Please read the item description very carefully before buying. Each listing includes information about materials, size, and care. You should know your ring size. If the piece you are interested in is heavy or delicate it will say so in the listing. If you would like more information about a piece, please contact me before ordering.
Returns will be accepted on a case-by-case basis only, provided you have contacted me prior to making the return and we have discussed it. The item must be returned to me in its original packaging and condition, and with all accompanying labels and articles, within 7 days for a full refund, less cost of shipping and transaction fees. You will be responsible for the cost of return shipping, which must include insurance for its full value.
CANCELLATIONS
I reserve the right to deny or cancel a sale of an item at my discretion.
SHIPPING
Shipping costs are included in the price of every item. All items are giftwrapped, carefully packaged, and shipped via U.S. Postal Service Priority Mail. At this time I am only shipping orders within the U.S. and they will be shipped free of charge. Your order will be shipped within 1-2 business days of receipt of payment.
PACKAGING AND PRESENTATION
I decorate all of my own packaging using recycled and eco-friendly materials whenever possible. Right now I am using organic cotton pouches with recycled tissue paper and pillow boxes. Every talisman will arrive carefully gift wrapped in packaging that I hand-decorated...I age my own paper and even cut my own stamps! Each one will be a little different, depending on what I am using at the time. My current stamped designs are based upon ancient Southwestern rock art.
A handwritten gift label accompanies each piece detailing its components. Some ancient or historic components have their own information sheet. Spirit Beads arrive with their own article describing what they are and suggestions for their use.
Keep the cycle going! I encourage you to reuse or recycle all of my packaging items.
CARE & REPAIR
I care deeply about the quality of my work and want you to be very happy with it. I wear what I make to ensure that it is comfortable and sits well. Although I often use unconventional materials and techniques, I do everything I can to make the talismans as solidly as possible. Should a piece break in the course of everyday wear, I will do my best to repair it free of charge...but do be aware that many components are unique and irreplaceable.
SIZING & ALTERATIONS
Unless I've stated otherwise in the listing, rings and bracelets cannot be re-sized. All of my pieces are made with a certain sense of balance and proportion between the elements which would be destroyed if the piece were altered. Because of this, what you see is what you get, and I will not change earwires or necklaces, etc.
ECO-FRIENDLY
I run a pretty green business, all things considered. I try to be mindful and respectful of my materials and equipment, and produce as little waste and use as few toxic materials as possible. Most of my work is done with simple hand tools in natural daylight. I recycle all metals and repurpose everything I can.
