This morning we awoke to a world that had been frosted from the southwest with needle-like crystals of rime ice. A freezing fog had blanket the area overnight, leaving a strange and rare beauty in its wake. As soon as I got up I bundled up and trudged outside with camera in hand to photograph these ephemeral crystals before they disappeared. It was about 18 degrees, not counting wind chill, but absolutely worth it.
